Nestlé serves up “Foods for Healthy Heroes” to celebrate International Chefs Day

Friday, October 20, 2017

Once again Nestlé Professional and Nestlé for Healthier Kids are working in partnership with Worldchefs to help promote healthy eating to children and to provide nutritious recipe ideas to chefs and parents around the world.

The theme for this year’s International Chefs Day is Foods for Healthy Heroes, which is used to raise awareness in children about healthy eating by letting them be creative with food. International Chef’s Day also aims to inspire chefs and to provide nutritious and fun recipe ideas for their kids' menus.

With the help of Canadian Corporate Chef Rick Secko, Nestlé Professional and Allison Brown, a Registered Dietitian from our Nutrition, Health and Wellness team, school-aged children in Ottawa took part in a fun and interactive workshop at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. Specifically, the class created “Banana Powered French Toast” and a delicious “Professor A and Mr. Strong’s Wonder Smoothie”. Click here to download the recipes to try at home with your family.

A study produced by Nestlé Research Centre found that involving children in preparing and cooking meals helps to encourage good eating habits early on. Encouraging children to be creative with vegetables and fruits is a great way for them to discover new foods.

Nestlé for Healthier Kids forms part of our commitment to promote children’s nutrition, health and wellbeing. It is an initiative that federates all of our efforts to support parents and caregivers on their journey to raise healthier kids. Nestle for Healthier Kids supports our commitment to help 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030.
